St Louis's Best Neighborhoods for Trick or Treating

If you live in a neighborhood with little to no trick-or-treating, you may want to seek a new destination for your family to join in the festivities. But where do you go? While we don't have an inside track on which homes hand out the full-sized candy bars, there are a few hot spots where you can find fun events, sweet treats & creative decor that will enliven even the spookiest spirits.

We polled social media, our past clients & our team to gather a quick list of a few fantastic haunts for Halloween in St Louis.

Lafayette Square

There's nothing like a neighborhood filled with historic Victorian homes to put a little spook in your step. And Lafayette Square is one of the places where you can count on some good old-fashioned door to door candy collecting. Most of the younger goblins will start around 5pm, with the last trick or treaters filing through around 8pm. Known as a destination neighborhood, parking is limited so plan ahead.

St Charles' Spooky Light Show

Recently expanded from a holiday light show, Never Enough Lights at 607 Calamar Ct in St Charles has a spook-tacular light show that runs for two weeks during the year before transitioning to a more merry theme. During the 2023 season, the light show ran nightly from 6pm-9pm.

Central West End Neighborhood Halloween

The Saturday before Halloween, the neighborhood comes alive with ghosts, goblins & goodies for their Legendary CWE Halloween. Festivities start with a family-friendly celebration during the day including day time trick or treating, costume parades for kids & furry friends and live music.

As the sun starts to set, Maryland Plaza fills with some of the most outrageous costumes for the adult's only party and contest.

Walkable Neighborhoods for Trick or Treating

Often the family-friendly towns that have walkable clusters of homes make the top of the destination lists. Especially in neighborhoods like:
  • Webster Groves, also the Old Orchard Business District hosts Saturday before Halloween trick or treating!
  • Kirkwood - check dates/times for the Annual Halloween Walk in Downtown!
  • Eureka -several neighborhoods offer walkable candy collecting and they also host a Scarecrow Decorating Festival throughout October.

Other clusters of clusters of neighborhoods within South and West County also get a lot of interest since families can visit a few within walking distance. Communities along Grant's Trail see streams of children along the 8-mile span. Park near Grant's Farm for quick access to the trail and all of the communities it connects.

Happy Haunting, Trick or Treaters!
