When our clients were ready to leave the city for a quieter suburb, they were faced with a difficult decision: build or buy? They ultimately chose to build with Hibbs Homes and worked with our in-house architect and designer to create a home tailored to their love of visual art and their plans for a peaceful retirement.
The result is a sleek, stylish home with creative use of materials, color, and space, designed to be highly functional, energy-efficient, and accessible for years to come... and this home was an award-winning custom home design in 2021!

A Custom Home Not Afraid to Go Bold
This project was a dream come true for our visual art enthusiast clients, and we loved incorporating their unique style into every aspect of their home. The Chamomile paint color by Benjamin Moore was a perfect fit for the interior color story, adding a vibrant pop to the kitchen, stairwell, and ceiling.
Outside, our clients chose to go for a bold look with the dark Hardie siding, but added some contrast with the bright white board and batten above the roofline and a single beam and roof in Sherwin Williams’ Knockout Orange at the entryway.
Peace and privacy were two important needs for our clients, so we put together a standout window plan that seamlessly melds the indoors and outdoors while also maintaining their privacy. The transom windows in the stairwell and smart blinds on the commercial two up, two down windows that wrap the corners of the home keep things nice and private while letting in the sunshine and offering sweeping views of the area.
Accessible Design for a Forever Home
We even incorporated an elevator shaft where the pantry and storage spaces currently are, allowing future access to all floors in the home. Extra wide hallways, a main floor primary bedroom, and a zero entry shower add to the accessibility and livability of this beautiful home.
Our High-Performance Building Standards
This home was designed and built to the Hibbs Healthy Homes Standards for quality, durability, comfort, and performance. The durable materials throughout the home, thorough hardscaping outside, and energy efficiency mean our clients can enjoy their home with minimal maintenance and utility costs well into their retirement.
